For years, China's manufacturing in the submarine cable sector labored under the shadow of a technological "chokehold." Before 2010, the high-voltage submarine cables essential for deep-sea domestic projects were largely monopolized by European companies, commanding prices of tens of millions RMB per kilometer. Determined to break through, Far East established a dedicated R&D team in 2012 to tackle core challenges like pressure resistance, corrosion protection, and extended lifespan in complex seabed environments.
Since its founding in March 2022, Far East Submarine Cable Co., Ltd. has actively advanced China's "Dual Carbon" goals (carbon peak and carbon neutrality). It invested 3 billion RMB to build a cutting-edge offshore and submarine cable industrial base in Rudong, Jiangsu Province. Spanning 400 mu (approximately 66 acres), this facility boasts the world's unique "1 Tower + 6 Lines + 4 Lines" production configuration. Its annual capacity includes:
2,000 km of fiber optic composite submarine cables
6,000 km of specialized submarine optical cables
Approximately 30,000 sets of various cable accessories
Integrated with a dedicated 50,000+ ton cable-loading terminal and a professional cable-laying fleet, the base forms a complete "Manufacture-Transport-Installation" ecosystem. This builds a service network spanning multiple countries, providing a robust foundation for the large-scale delivery of deep-sea power cables.
Every departure marks a new beginning. The delivery of these deep-sea cables is not the final destination; it's the anchoring point for China's high-end equipment industry setting sail into the deep blue.
